Hello, Bellack, Welcome to RetouchPro !! It will help us to know what photo editing program(s) you use, and how much experience you have at editing/retouching photos. Do you use Photoshop? If so, what version? Do you use Photoshop Elements, GIMP, PSP, etc?

If I understand you, you want to know how to make skin look like the less saturated skin in this example you posted - what have you already tried? What is the hard part for you to get the look you want?

Have you worked with Curves, Levels, Hue/Saturation?

Hi Bellack: Welcome to RPro. Adding a little bit to what CJ already said, and watching your pictures my guess is that you are using the Degrunge technique or maybe surface blur.
The first example on your original post, has a lot of work in it. My advise as always is; Look on the line of the Dodge and Burn technique, you can find lots of info. right here in this forum.
The techniques involve things like: A lot of Dodge and Burn, (which is very time consuming), Healing tool, Liquify, stamp tool, frequency separation, Sharpening, Color correction, layer masks, curves, selective colors, among other things. I also recommend a tablet, (if you don't own one) in order to make your life easier.

I'm sure you are going to receive great feedback here...
