Where do I find the "Luminosity mask action" MacBurg is talking about?

As far as I now the actions now come at a cost of US$10, you can read all about them and make the purchase over at Tony's site -

http://goodlight.us/writing/luminosi...tymasks-1.html

They are a very useful thing to have in your toolbox and although there are many other ways within photoshop to make masks based on luminosity, these are fast and easily included into actions you want to create.

You can make your own masks too, it's not that hard. Apply image with a specific blending mode to a white mask on a duplicate layer, then change blending mode of the layer itself. That's pretty much the basics of it, you experiment from here.

Hm, you should have a look into your channels palette and will see a LOT has happened :-)

Re: Help with this great landscape look

I admit I like alpha channels better (because I can see them for a better sense of what I'm getting, and I can apply all sorts of filters and tools to them as needed), but a good deal of luminosity masking can be applied quite simply, and with little file overhead, by using the Blend If sliders in the Layer Styles dialog.

Re: Help with this great landscape look

I'm picking up my new Nikon D300s and going landscape shooting for the day, i'll post my photos after I'd really like to try out this method, any specific tips for when I'm shooting besides the under/over exposures?
