Re: Remove shadow from product image

I am sorry but I don't really understand what you mean, In the picture you attached the whole shadow is already removed right? So what is the rest?

How did you got the lasso to smooth on the edges? Is it experience or did you do the trick on ehow what is described with the layer, i dont really understand that

I can select the shadow with the lasso tool but from that point i don't understand anymore what to do..

I made a screenshot from the point where i get stuck:

I make a selection with the lasso tool and copy it to a new layer.. from then I dont understand it anymore. I can adjust the brightness/contrast to make the shadow light blue. Also after I need to erase the shadow but on which layer?

Correcting myself here. This is actually the sloppy way. The correct way is to use the pen tool to make a path/selection around the entire object. Then you can address the background in numerous ways, ie, delete it, or fill it. You'll get more uniform results than just filling a shadow.

Steffan, I suspect you're getting jagged results because you are using the Lasso tool instead of the Pen tool.

Assuming your foreground color is the color of your background, just hit Option+Delete to fill that shadow layer with your foreground color.

But if your background has texture or tonal grading that fill method will give unsatisfactory results, which is why I recommend making a selection around your entire product (sans shadow) and addressing the background as a whole. Ideally it's good to have your background and product on separate layers for maximum control.
