does anyone have some good info on toning..? or maybe some dvd stuff...what i often like about an image is the toning . I know it is a matter of trying back and forth in photoshop - using solid color layer in all kinds of different modes with maybe split triangles and so on but i mis some solid info on this and on how to get certain hex color codes for specific colors. it came to my mind when i was watching this site : http://kedaz.com/ - i like the way he tones his images. thanks

Re: does anyone have some good info on toning..? Hi lunaxxxxxx (did I get the number of Xs right A few things. Not sure if you know the artist for that web site but it is seriously broken as var as viewing on a Firefox browser on a Mac. Click on an image and only the left side of the image comes up. As far as Hex Codes and colors in Photoshop - click on foreground color swatch in tool panel. This opens up the color picker - An eyedropper opens up then click and drag over your document to the color you want. - The Hex code shows at the bottom of the color picker dialog box If you want a color from somewhere else on your desktop, just continue dragging over to the window and color of interest and it will also display on the color picker. Not sure if I followed the rest of your post about tone. If you are looking for what makes a good picture, there are resouces about the "Zone System" for photography. If all you want is how to adjust the tone in Photoshop. That is a basic that most every Photoshop book covers. It might help for members to give you suggestions if you question/request was a little more specific. Hope that helps.

Re: does anyone have some good info on toning..? Hi, I find a lot of the subtle 'toned' effects are best got by subtly blending the opacities and blending modes of two or more duplicated/modified layers. There are an infinite number of possibilities, and it is good to make a habit of recording successful results. Some interesting starting points (forgive me if these are too obvious) are:- Using the Photo Filter Hue Saturation in colorize Solid color layer adj layer filled with pure blue, Exclusion Mode, 15% Opacity Create a gradation map for a split tonong effect. Use a gradmap adj layer at 25% opacity in Overlay, Softlight or other blandmodes. Adj layer in solid color set to color burn at low opacity - then open the picker and play around. You could go on for ever - so it is important to a/ record your successes and exactly how you got them. b/ Set out with a definite style/look you want to achieve or emulate. So you know where you are trying to get to, and whether you have got there. regards AK
