Hi Flashtones,

it's not just the web version (I did the whole test on this version, so it's the same file I was working on).
There really seems to be slightly less banding in the background and the lower saturated tones seems to stay less with the overlay curves (which in my opinion looks more natural).

However as you correctly said, it looks really close to each other, so why worry about the little differences and do the extra work.
It's nice to have options like these, but it's certainly no must :-)!

Edit: +1 to doing things in Lightroom/ACR.
