Hi ptptka: The 3rd picture you uploaded, is from a professional retoucher, (if i recall well, it is a work from Natalia Taffarel), and it has long hours of work in it, probably from 5 to maybe 10 hours... It doesn't have a different texture, because it is the model's own texture... In order to get to this level of retouching, you need to practice, practice, practice, practice, practice and then practice some more... Look under the threads of Dodge and Burn and Frequency Separation here in RetochPro where you can find lots of info on how it's done...

You guys have your times off. There's nothing truly special about the detailing on that third image. If it takes you 5-10 hours per image for that stuff, you won't find a job. If this was the case how would you get through these jobs clearing 1 image/day? Detail work does take time but I think you're budgeting too long for a relatively average result.

Hi kav: Maybe you are right about the time Natalia took to do that work. Maybe it only took her a couple of hours to complete it... But "average result" mmmmm I don't think so... I'd be very satisfied if I could get an "average result" like that in a couple of hours...

I didn't say it was bad or anything. That's beside the point and you're entitled to your opinion. I just didn't think the suggestion of 5-10 hours to do a cleanup of something like this was normal. It's not. Everyone has times they're comfortable with but if you are going to do that for a living, you have to set realistic times not only for budget reasons, but because people will want to see a first pass without waiting a week or more.

Re: i try ,but……

Ok, I went out of proportion when I said 5-10 hours, in her case it could take maybe only 1 hour or :45 minutes, but for a stater as in this case it could take much more than that, at least 4 or 5 hours...

Call me a shallow gal, but I'd prefer the image better if the nails and lips were both of a similar hue.

Re: i try ,but……

I thought I'd chime in -

Rollover from that image http://www.nataliataffarel.com/Tirado.html

The texture was brought in from another image - same pose - similar lighting

Bases and principles http://nataliataffarel.tumblr.com/po...640031/texture

I don't usually do this kind of "fixing" as my client's files don't have focus problems, that was a game (between me and a fellow retoucher) we took an image from the challenges & samples forum in MM and we had to do it in the day - I think that retouch took 2 and a half hours.

Hope that helps.

xx

Hola Natalia: Bienvenida nuevamente. Gracias por esta info. Me habia estado preguntando cuanto tiempo te tomó hacer este trabajo. Me encanta, el fondo verde le añade algo especial, y el tono y textura de la modelo estan chulisimos...

Saludo caluroso...
