My attempt at a Grungy/Dragan Effect.

I'm not sure if this is even the actual term for this but I like the look. Any suggestions/tips would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

Well, your photo is a bit small, but it looks good to me... Dragan effect is the term...

Nice try but I see some issues. There areareas ofthe skin (face and neck) which are completely blown out which is a no-go as far as I am concerned. The background is pretty distracting. The subjects eyes are not visible whic significantly detracts from the power that the image could have. There are a great many threads here at RP on the Dragan style if you are looking for examples and techniques.
Regards, Murray

Re: My attempt at a Grungy/Dragon Effect.

Technique aside, I don't feel a connection to your character or story. Your subject doesn't seem to be investing much in this image which might be an indication that he didn't feel like you were investing in him. When I look at a Dragan image I'm shocked, scared, amused, or intrigued by what he says, far more than how he says it. What sets Andrzej Dragan, Tim Tadder, Dave Hill, etc. apart from the crowd is their ability to tell an outlandish story with a surreal technique that fits. Add that element to this image and I'm confident you will get the reaction you are looking for.

Ah, I see. So it goes way beyond a Photoshop effect. I totally understand where you are coming from since you mention Tim Tadder, Dave Hill and of course, Andrzej Dragan. This photo was an almost split second decision shot and you're right, I had nothing invested in him and he didn't in me either. Thank you for the comment.
