Question What is the best beauty skin retouching method?

Apparently there's 1000 and 1 methods for dealing with skin. Which do you think is the best?

I saw so many different tutorials out there but I never dared to pick one because there are so many different methods...

Which works best for women?

What about men? I suppose dealing with male skin is completely different affair.

Re: What is the best beauty skin retouching method

The best method is the one that produces the result that you or your customer is happy with. As for retouching men, less is more.

Re: What is the best beauty skin retouching method

There are various kinds of "problems" with retouching base exposure of image, tonal range, blemishes, wrinkles, foundation, glare, makeup, smoothing, skin pores, contouring, skin color etc. Each one of these different issues can be in one image... but not in another. So... a Retoucher needs to dig in and begin to learn the basic skills of dealing with about 10 different kinds of when they come up...he can deal with them well. There is no "one best way" to do this are correct that there are often 3-5 different ways to do approximately the same thing in some cases...and everybody has their "Pet Favorite" way to do it... based on what seems to work best for them... this month.

So...Id love to see you gut it out...pick up a few basic skills like using layers, or the clone tool, or dodging, or color correcting, and learn 1 or 3 different ways of solving the problem. Build it up. Practice on different kinds of images...and grow your skills over time...using hard frustrating any journeyman, or apprentice, or crafts person has to do to get good at their craft.

If you dont pick one skill...and start there...and master are going to be overwhelmed and frustrated and ineffective as a Retoucher.

Have you taken a basic overview course on Photoshop? Have you spent $45 dollars on 3 good books on retouching? Have you spent $200 this year on a retouching DVD? Have you joined RetouchPro? Thats GOOD! Great Start. Hang around and break a sweat like the rest of us...and hunt for your hard won Photoshop solutions like you would hunt for a good woman. It takes time and effort...and more than a few failures and disappointments.

Next year at this time...if you have paid your dues...I might see some really great retouches by you here at this site.

Wish you the very best of luck and joy.

Its a great journey...but its not one of the easiest ones to master. Pick something (one at a time) and get to work...stop being confused.

Women are definitely easier to retouch...most of them dont have beards... and 5'oclock stubble to try to retouch out!! LOL.
