Need tips on retouching my photos

Hey people,

I am new to this forum, and just registered myself because there is loads on info to find on here. I am one year into hobby photography, but I think I need some critique/tips on my photo's. So I will be posting some photo's on this topic, that I just included in my portfolio.

The basic things I do is, turn down the saturation a notch, boost up the contrast and blacks. Sharpen the image a bit and remove bad skin.

Please help me boost the look of my photo's.

Hi,
I am new in this forum and i saw your photos looking well. i've been first interested by photo6 and i made a little quick job to enhance it. Model and background are very nice and i add just some effects to give it more attractive.
Please let me know what do you think about it and if you want i can do something with the 5 others.

Hey yes that looks pretty cool. Did you change white balance and set up a flare. What else did you change on the picture?

hi, thank, i glad you like it.

it's a little bit more complex. First, a crop the model and i work only on the background using hdr effect with HDR effect pro, extra lighting with Knoll Light Factory and white balance and level.
For the model just an high pass, and just a few saturation.
All are done with CS5.
Note that when i begin a work, i start all the time by level then white balance and then high pass filter. Then i play with my tablet PC
I downloaded photo7 and i'll play with it. Hope tomorow this will be published.

I tried to do something quickly tonight (my job is mainly the night)

For this photo7, i made a mask with model on her sit.
Level and luminosity/contrast correction on this new mask.
i fully apply a Smudge on the model to remove all bad effect due to the low photo resolution.
A light high pass of course and that all for model.
Background has just a little bit HDR enhance with an add contrast and a lower luminosity.
Finaly i cropped the image just for harmony.

This is what i quickly done with photo4

Like the previous picture... level, luminance/contrast, high pass, density +/- for eyes and finaly Portraiture for the skin...

Globally, shots are not to bad but i have some comments
photo1 has no feet
photo2 maybe reducing scale on face will be nicer. don't forget to leave a maximun on the left, eyes should look somewhere and not the near border.
photo3 exactly the same of photo2 (no feet)
photo5 just a post treatment will be nice.

for all of them your camera white balance seems too low.

I'm sure you can do it easily with Photoshop or gimp (free). But you should know that a picture is rarely top out the sensor and a post work should be done. Make yours and post them, it will be a pleasure to help you. do not hesitate...

here is my try.
first get the white balance right once got right rest should be easier.
if you have shot in RAW then you can easily improve them a lot.
edits are done on compress jepg files so there are many defects
in edits.
