Retouching skin like this I was wondering how you went from the top photo to the bottom one. I've seen Amy Dresser's work like this and it is CRAZY. Can anyone help me? I would love to get into retouching fashion photography. I would like to know everything, how the skin color is achieved, that nice glow, the pimples I know how to remove but the colors and the magazine-like complexion bothers me. Help please. http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/...er-600x808.jpg

Re: Retouching skin like this At the most fundamental level, this is a very simple retouch. The skin colour hasn't really changed at all. Granted that the quality of tone evening and blemish removal is very good, but apart from that all I can say is that the image has been brightened overall and the skin highlights evened and reinforced with dodge and burn. If you were going to output it at web size, it could be achieved start-to-finish in about 20-30 minutes no problem. Learn about dodge and burn on these forums and it will become self-evident (honestly, it will) how to retouch like that. Infact, I would go so far as to say that it's not a very good retouch per-se because the image is so obviously over-baked and unnatural. If I saw this in VOGUE magazine, I would hope that someone somewhere would be fired soon after.

Re: Retouching skin like this First of all, there is a global exposure bump, not just only limited for skintones. Ergo, the strength of highlights boost is way too big. Last edited by insmac; 12-14-2011 at 09:48 AM.
