background replacement, texture?

There are 2 ways I know of to do this. 1 would be the addition of noise to simulate texture, and the other would be to well....add a texture. I for one am not a fan of the noise method as well..it looks like noise lol. What are some other ways to add texture to an added background besides the 2 mentioned?

Re: background replacement, texture?

Could you be more specific about what you are trying to achieve?
Sounds like you are just asking how to make a texture - of any kind. That's a bit like asking "how to make a picture"...

As you said, you can either generate it procedurally using a filter (noise, grain, clouds, etc.), or use a photo. You could also paint it by hand...

Re: background replacement, texture?

I think he has a background and wants to add a texure to it. Might be able to do it with Filter>Texture>Texturizer.

Re: background replacement, texture?

hi,
There a lot of different ways and texture in itself is too broad of a category to explain.. be better, like chain said, if you could give some background what your trying to do...

or maybe even better give also a sample image....

if it just how to apply textures.. this is a general articlei have been reading (off and on lol..) using both photoshop and a plugin , although i think you may not need a plug in to achieve... this discusses using and mixing blening modes and alpha masks ...

not sure if the above addresses what your asking since there different ways to interpret your question
