How to make colors like Jordan Voth Hello everyone, It's my first message on this forum, i'm a french photographer (beginner level i think), and it's been like 10 hours that i'm working on photoshop or searching on the web how to do colors like these: http://jordanvoth.com/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/jojo2fa...in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/jojo2fa...in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/jojo2fa...in/photostream This guy is really good, colors are saturated, tones are deep, but realistic. Skins are nicely colored, i don't know how to say it, but all his tones look fantastic. Don't you think so? I am trying to achieve, but no way What do you think of this? Thanks in advance, whatever will be your answers. Sorry to be on other guy asking how to do an effect or a specific processing.

Re: How to make colors like Jordan Voth He sells actions on his website. Those might help. His colors look more desaturated, actually, not saturated, at least to me. Thanks for sharing his site url. He has a gift for making his subjects look like they're really having fun

Re: How to make colors like Jordan Voth Mshi: Ok finally there is not much informations available with the INFO lead. There is nothing about layers, ... Just camera raw tweakings and exifs. But thanks!

Re: How to make colors like Jordan Voth I've tried the cross process/desat method and just doesn't look the same. Does the cross process need to be really subtle?

Re: How to make colors like Jordan Voth Seriously Andrew B. ? Maybe the 32 bits CS 5? I'm on 64 bits CS5, put the BBP.8bf file in my plug in folder, restart photoshop, and nothing appears... I'm in the good folder, but no plug-in. Ok Mshi, i'm not totally new but it's true i didn't knew this tool. Tried some things with it, not inspirating for the moment. I have to search some tips on this tool!

Re: How to make colors like Jordan Voth Good call. I forgot about that. A 32 bit plugin will not work in 64 bit PS CS5. Of course, you could run it in 32 bit PS CS5. When I did my installation, the installer loaded 64 bit and 32 bit. It might be sitting there for you to use. Or, there are free applications out there that run Photoshop plugins. And now at the risk of starting a controversy, I'll make a second suggestion. Duplicate your layer. Set duplicate layer to Soft Light. Adjust opacity as needed. Also, try desaturating the duplicate layer, and then setting it to soft light. Also, try putting a slight gaussian blur on the duplicate layer. Smart filters make this easier, of course. But if you can get the plugin working, it's the best bleach bypass simulation I've found. I also saw mention of cross process here. I don't think that's what this photo is. But there are tutorials on that around the web. And redpaw has a cross process plugin.

Re: How to make colors like Jordan Voth Jordan sells presets on his website. Will they make the images look just as his? Probably not because a lot of factors contribute to the final image. As others have mentioned please post an image of yours so we can see what you're starting point is. If you don't have the correct starting point, you won't see the final result.

Re: How to make colors like Jordan Voth Well, I think those pictures were created with good lenses and PTS was used just a little. My friends used Canon L lenses and the pictures straight out of the camera were nearly as the pictures showed above. The first picture in your link is easy to achieve, shoot the picture by expose for the people, the sky will over expose, then in the PTS may be duplicate the background layer, desaturate the copy layer, then set it blending mode to screen, reduce the opacity, increase contrast and add vignette.
