Re: Face Portrait(Now what)

Some contrast, to bring out the shape of the face more. Add some yellow and magenta to the skin tones, pull some cyan out of the quartertones. Sharpen. And get rid of that shadow, so we can see your face. These are the kind of general moves that any image will respond to. Starting with a better image would help; this one is so soft, sharpening only enhances digital litter.

Re: Face Portrait(Now what)

You can paint most of the edges in quick mode. The hair can be captured with a crude selection along the edge, then use refine edge in the select menu. Adjust the radius under edge detection until you isolate the hair.

Re: Face Portrait(Now what)

You'll never fully isolate fine hair. It's just not entirely opaque so even a perfect selection won't do it. You make a choice. You can either take in a little extra and use adjustment layers to blend the edges to the new background, or you can redraw hairs. Either takes a bit of finesse to do with some believability.
