Pulling detail

This might be overly simple for you guys, but I recently found Skai Photography and love her work. However, I don't know how she brings the detail/clarity back in from that washed-out look you get using natural, soft light. Interview here. Any suggestions?

Re: Pulling detail

It's actually pretty cheesy. The subjects don't appear that engaged. Half of them look like they're waiting for the bus. You wonder how the eyes and lips aren't blown out? It's just a little soft masking, a couple adjustment layers, and some sharpening. There's really nothing to learn here. There are a lot of photographers who use similar lighting. In this case they're messing with the post processing and filters a bit too much. The faces look pretty flat, then on some of them they just way boosted the makeup with a little quick mask and a layer or two to bump the color and deepen the tone. The end result isn't anything truly special or unique.
