Re: Golden glow

Yea not a bad start!

The effect on the surroundings dont matter, the bear came out pretty good.

How did you get to it?

Re: Golden glow

It took me about five minutes. First off all I increased contrast with curves, luminosity masks and BW adjustment layer. Then I played with curves. The main think I did was moving the white point of a curve in blue channel. I didnt do any dodging and burning. The sun was quickly painted by a brush.

Re: Golden glow

I think a part of the problem of deconstructing Tandem-Yard's image is that, because it's a composite of different images, different parts have been worked on separately and other parts have subesquently been adjusted together, so different methods have been applied to different areas.

Like santoro80, I thought that moving the white point of the blue curve would be a good starting point, but masked it through a luminosity mask and, if you ignore the green sky, it produces a similar result.

Tandem-Yard's work is beautiful and I'm wondering if any of you would be interested in collaborating in trying to emulate it. I'm sure that together we could gather some suitable images to create a humourous bear/squirrel montage in a similar style. I'd certainly find it interesting to see how different folk approach different problems and which solutions work best. I expect we could all learn something from such an exercise.

All it does is lighten the right hand side to create a glow in the sky and a few bits of the bear. I called it complicated because I can't remember exactly what it was that I did before flattening it.

Compare ...

Just a little thing I noticed on the photo you posted link to the grafted sun with clouds behind the mountains and the shadow falling from the right hand side ....shadow shouldn't be there but it looks pleasing though
