Question heavy skin fold modification, help

I'm having trouble making her stomach appear smaller and tighter. Anyone have any ideas?

Let me know if you want the full image to work on.

The illusion of volume is mainly due to the depth of the shadow. You may find that by reducing the strength of the shadow you can achieve a "smaller and tighter" look.

It's not her stomach, but the electrical socket growing out of her hair that worries me!

The socket is an easy fix.

I tried applying a curves layer to the affected area to lessen the shadow and it does not look natural or any better. I'm also starting to think the slight highlights on the top of the stomach are contributing to the bloated look.

Have you tried using the Patch tool? On the attached duplicate layer used Patch to highlight the dark shadow and move to lighter area of stomach. This removed all of the shadow but you could bring more back by adjusting the opacity of this layer.

Also a D&B layer to tone down the highlight top stomach.

Still work to do blending skin tones but may help you to get somewhere near where you need to be?

Wait about 5 seconds for the image to change
