How to get this kind of results? FHM style?

Looks like on-camera flash with tungsten ambient, judging from the shadows. Surgeon went to work on the model to polish her without destroying the off-the-cuff look.

To my eye, the shot is not a good example of its genre. It doesn't have the urgency or immediacy that you can get from a compact camera and flash. There is an artistic tradition derived from snapshots that is of course very alive today. But this one lacks the necessary germ of an idea.
