What's your starting point? Do you have an image already? It's tough to prescribe an answer to a problem that we don't have in front of us.

play around with color filters - different blending modes. It's not that difficult to achieve with some experimentation.

Re: Great skin tone - how to get this look?

It seems like the two examples you posted are two different techniques.

The first one is a skin coloration. Many people get that with a curves adjustment layer above the image and they pull the top of the curve to get the color they want. Yellow comes from pulling the blue curve down to get the yellow tone...to make the yellow tone look orange...then you pull up on the red channel to make it orange. You might pull other areas of the curve depending on whether you want to change the highlights, mid tones or shadow colors. You pull the top right to affect the highlights...the middle of the curve to adjust the color balance of the mid tones...or the bottom left of the curve to affect the darker shadow colors. Once you get this curve color set up...then you would do a control or command I to invert the mask to black...and then paint on the skin color with a low opacity soft white brush. Your example image looks like they may have used a separate curve for each range of skin tones...one curve for the lighter skin tones...yellow only. A second curve for some mid tone skin areas with red and minus blue (yellow). And then an orange curve for the darker tones...but this time the RGB curve is also pulled down to make the orange look brownish.

The second image is affected by a process called cross processing. He is adding a blueish or purple haze in different parts of the image. You can get these color contamnations by using curve adjustment layers and painting on the black mask with a very low opacity soft white brush. Again use the curve to create the blue or purple haze color you are interested in by pulling the blue and red curves up or down. You may want to work to use different blending modes to get these effects. Darken blend mode, multiply, soft light etc are all nice blending modes that will soften and heighten the effect...then play with opacity on that same layer to make the effect barely visible till you are artistically satisfied. Look for tutorials on Cross Processed images to see the techniques used. You can also use gradients to do something like this as well

Cheers,

Ray
