product retouch - glassware

Hi,
i have a glass plate with food that was photographed and slightly underexposed so the glass is very gray and doesn't really look like transparent glass.

What would be the best way to adjust the plate to look more like transparent glass?

One way that may work for you is to select the grey areas (I used Color Range) and use the mask in a Curves adjustment layer to get the glass to look more transparent. Then add a dodge and burn layer to selectively lighten areas (you will do a better job than my quick play I am sure).

Click on the attachment and wait a few seconds for before and after

What I tried, which I think works pretty well, is to select the plate with the pen tool, save the plate to it's own layer and use Screen blending mode.
