Wink Look question for who knows it

Hi guys,

It's a long time i'm looking for a particular painting skin look seen often in advertising. I'm close 70% but not that 100%.

Anyone here knows EXACTLY withou guessing how is this kind of effect done?
http://www.behance.net/gallery/Cappy-KV/1096291

It's not Dave Hill, it's not that style, it's more painted soft look. Of course there is a lot od d&b and so on...but i'm still not there...maybe some blur filter and than some repainting?

Anyone knows? Thanks im advance

Looks like Topaz time to me. Not just one filter, but a range of filters to get that desired effect.

I really do not think it's topaz my friends. That guy is to professional to use just that plug. Topaz has a more textured effect on the photos...here is something with mid tones and maybe some repainting to. Anyway thanks for your reply. ;-)

Re: Look question for who knows it

Generally speaking, doing mid tone moves, with curves and unsharp mask and what have you will not give you the fine tuning of NIKsoft or Topaz. Not to mention, you can dial down the texture enhancements in the plugins. That guy, is a studio with a photographer, retoucher and 3D artist, all of whom worked on that image. My biggest client shoots his images, gives them to me to retouch, then finishes them up on his own with enhancement filters. It's quite common. You just can not get that painted look from messing with mid tone adjustments.

Yep, I agree...I know (by fame) that guys from Ars who did that image. They are great.
I tryed anyway also topaz and Nik but results are not that similar. My results are more similar to Dave Hill illustrated look but not to this one. Do you have some more step by step info which ho in this direction?

I'm right there with you on this one. I've struggled myself, to get something that cool. I still take stabs at it from time to time, but there's a lot of illustration work going on in there. Unfortunately, I'm a good retoucher, but only mediocre illustrator.

It'd be cool just to know if there is a way to do that in retouching way...or it's really and completely illustrated from scratch. :-)

Look just at the model. There is a 3d artist mentioned. It might be simply a digital painting.
