Re: Looking for this Style

Have spent time reading his blog? He is giving away most of the information you need to recreate his shots.

In this Post you can see that he was using a 5d Mark III for the shots with the train, so no medium format was used. And in the comments you can find information that multiple exposures were done.

By the way he doesn't use ring flashes. What i saw on his blog he uses one softbox or two softboxes most of the time. Look at this Post, with behind the scenes shots and a lightning diagram for example.

There was also an interesting article about his lightning on strobist.

That's about the photographic part. The other question is how his images are retouched to get this or his specific look...

Re: Looking for this Style

Hi, sorry i didn´t reply. It was a busy week.

Spinq, i will try with the yellow and don´t worry about beeing pushy, i want to learn and that´s the only way Thanks by the way.

Lo_45, Yes i´m reading his blog and i notice too that he uses 5D markIII, 1D and softboxes. As you say, the question is how is the retouching part of his work, so i wrote him today. As soon i get news from him, i will post his reply.

I shot this last weekend,

Re: Looking for this Style

Probably he will tell you the same as I do, he doesn't do his retouching by his own. Heather Elder is his retoucher.

I think your try doesn't come close sorry. It is too oversharpened. I think the problem is the original photo, which looks not very sharp, so I don't think this is a good start...

I believe Heather Elder is an artist representative not a retoucher.

Re: Looking for this Style

You are totally right Flashtones, I mixed things up.

Emily Von Fange is one of Chris retoucher.

Emily is good Check out her Before/After. Very cool slider bars showing progressive changes for each image.

Those examples will make you lose any semblance of faith you used to have that photography has some bearing to reality, especially in advertising

I have also noticed several variations of this - I believe this would be done with a similar editing technique, but maybe without the HDR portion? Any thoughts on this would be awesome: http://www.davidburdeny.com/
