Re: Quick Critique on Chris Crisman Style
You need to look at the details. Lots of masking and controlling of all the facets of the image.
Field - needs a new sky, too many clouds to pull out a romantic/warm look. What you did helps, but it won't ever reach the Almas, etc., quality (he puts a new sky in almost every image from his extensive library).
Sand - again, separate the elements. Sky is waaay too blue. Picture is just a bad shot, really. Look at how dramatic the composition is in CC/EA work.
Person - again, details. You need to pull out the sharpening, the edges, highlights, carve in depths w/ d/b, etc., etc. There are plenty of tutorials out there.
Good luck. The first thing is to pic your favorites, which you've done w/ CC/EA, now you need to examine their work and understand what makes it special, not just say 'hey, how do I do it'. Understand it, the how/why and you'll be closer to recreating it, better yet, you might learn enough to push things in your own direction.
