Lighting flare (non-destructive)

Whenever I see lens flares and lighting that is non-destructive I can't help but have to swat my crotch and tame the beast from becoming overwhelmed. With that said... when I saw the attached photo I fell in love. I need help acheiving the background lighting though. I love how the light emphasizes her structure and sort of crisply gleams through the outter edges of her. Do I place one lighting fixture directly behind someone to acheive this and edit the rest in photoshop or can it all be done from PS???

Stop right there!

Because that's ALL you have to do. It's just a hair light, above and behind. No retouching required. You're trying to find an extremely complicated solution to a very simple problem.

I'm not saying it couldn't be done in PS, but that would be like asking "how do I make a cheese sandwich using a tennis racket and bicycle pump?" when you could just go and buy some bread and cheese.

Re: Lighting flare (non-destructive)

Just make sure not over expose the rim light 1/3 of a stop, it will increase as you raise contrast of image. You will need a few baffled lights to replicate that shot.

Good luck.
