Re: Real World Studio Retouching Experience...

If the job- be it editorial or advertising- dictates that the photograph emphasize the hair, then any good shooter will shoot many different looks and up to a few hundred different plates. Some plates help me build a cleaner background. Some plates are used to replace body parts and the rest for more "perfect" hair parts.

There was one job I did for Clairol where they had a single image to use as a build. The blonde in question had a fan blowing her full, curly locks and the client wanted her hair to be tame and perfect. i'll try to post the before after to show you what was done. How it was done would probably take a much longer explanation

Hey conrad you can add a video of cleaning hair though the ones around the head and the cross hairs over the hair I am always looking for a quicker ways to do that. Anther good one would be removing wrinkles from clothes that can be a pain in the ass particularly if there is a pattern there.

I get a 'page not found' error message when I try the link. Had no opportunity to add any password.

Those were fun to watch. They're interesting because you mention the same problems as I've encountered yet approach them differently. Colors are naturally different in the deeper tones and it is pretty pronounced on skin. I tend to use curves adjusted by channel for a better alignment in colors or just channel mixer (I use channel mixer for many things). Sometimes I would merge a lot of that to a background copy as it can be faded back if in spots if necessary anyway. I would never merge the broader stuff. just the bits of cleanup. It would still be separate from any cloning, and it's only if the number of layers becomes too irritating.

I noticed your brush technique was very careful. It was obvious when you would pick the pen up, and you seem to be from the school of painting strokes in one direction. It was also presented quite well. I enjoyed it and just felt like commenting. Also Rocket turns out some amazing work. I am jealous.

Re: Real World Studio Retouching Experience...

Thanks for the kind words Kav... I enjoyed making the video.

For those of you having trouble viewing the portfolio, try going to conraddigital.com/tutorials and you should be able to view it there. Use the ConradDigital password to play it.

I have the other 8 parts of that video series that I'll probably offer as On Demand... but I'll keep this one cheap- like $25...

I have plenty more to show so pass the word along and help everybody out...

C
