I know the technique you are referring to called frequency seperation. I have used it on occasion but overall i prefer D&B.
Great, I am glad that you find the healing brush effective. The issue I found with the healing brush is that it tends to smudge when as it gets close to an edge with a very different color or high contrast.

You're right. I definitely found that more challenging with the healing brush around the hair line removing clumps of hair after patching.
