can anyone help me with this photo?

I am in desperate need of help with this photo. It is the ONLY photo where both the little ones are looking at the camera. I would usually throw this one out but am trying desperately to save it with some lightening of shadows but it is not working out for me. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks in advance!!

If you have Photoshop you might find the Shadows/Highlights adjustment takes you in a useful direction.

Is this the type of lightening you are looking for?

Very nice Murray,

I straightened then cropped and lightened some.. Darkened some.. patched some, painted a little and prolly went a bit over-board

I really like what you have done. All I did was brighten it up.

Re: can anyone help me with this photo?

Here's my try. Cropped a little, warmed the colors (the original has a blue cast in my opinion), lightened the shadows and sharpened.
