Re: Is LUT adjusting valid retouching?

LUT are used most in movie and video for color grading. Its not a tool for retouching images. I used it in Photoshop because I'm NFG using color balance, selective color, channel mixer adjustments tools so I start with LUT and work from there.

Re: Is LUT adjusting valid retouching?

I contacted the developer of 3dLUTcreator twice and got back speedy replies. One question I had was their licensing of LUT's built, can we sell them or use them in a commercial product? Yes we can. I was interested in this product as an ICC Profile editor which would make the $299 cost rather reasonable for me. I was told the LUT's could be converted to ICC profiles and they would consider this functionality directly in the future.

Re: Is LUT adjusting valid retouching?

You can create LUTs in Davinci Resolve Lite and it's a free software.

Does it have the kinds of features such as this:

The English video's range from very good to OK but worth watching (I'm on my 3rd). The tool seems very powerful and I like the GUI. Haven't seen anything like this since the old LinoColor days.

Re: Is LUT adjusting valid retouching?

Davinci Resolve is a color grading software. 3d out creator is a different tool specifically for luts. So no Davinci can't do the same. 3d out creator is easier for luts. None of them are used for retouching. They are used for color grading. Davinci for color grading film and video, 3d out creator for color grading images.

Got it thanks. Just wanted to make sure I don't buy something I don't need to buy if a free or lesser expensive product is available.
The video I linked is interesting in terms of the Masking and Photoshop integration.

Re: Is LUT adjusting valid retouching?

If you have a solid background using curves, selective colors, color balance, and the rest of Photoshop tools all you need is time.

Please be fair - you can buy a 3d LUT Creator Pro version for $199 now.
I think this is a cheap price for tool like this - and developed by one guy. He is smart and his software is worth of this money.

Adobe products are expensive. Because you have to pay them month by month =) But I am not saying that their products are bad. But they could be even better, for that kind of money coming their way =)
