Re: Is LUT adjusting valid retouching?

Yes I'm quite familiar with this, the product mentioned (PhotoKit Sharpener) is mine (with Bruce, Jeff Schewe, Martin Evening, Mac Holbert and Seth Resnick). This is creative sharpening, one of three rounds of sharpening.

Getting back OT, I want to understand the point you made; all retouching is selective, never global? I'm OK with that definition if it is generally accepted. I have no opinion either way. It would dismiss a great deal of the work/fixes I hear around these parts, specifically today with respect to Lab.

Re: Is LUT adjusting valid retouching?

This guy used to use lenses made in 1890 .... Are you really sure you need to use local sharpening? His images are beautiful, he obviously did not use Photoshop - and can you imagine? He had one hand only!

Why should I get stuck within one software? For me - retouching is cloning with the stamp. In old days we retouched prints with small brush...
