| | | Looking for PS Action to Darken Edges I really like the effect of darkened edges on B&W photos. It seems to draw your attention to the center and the main part of the image.
Are there any actions available to simply darken edges around the border of a photo? I guess it would be like a vignette.
Thanks. |

| | | Vignette Well its fairly easy to do. Make a new layer above the Portrait. Using the oval selection tool make an oval selection above the portrait centered on the face. Invert the selection. Feather the selection Fill the selected area with black. Decrease the opacity of the layer.
Or in that area use the circular gradient tool and paint from transparent to black and decrease the opacity when done. |

| | | Thanks for the reply. I'm not looking for an oval (at least I don't think so) but more of a slight darkening of the corners. I've seen this done with more of the "artsy" B&W photos. It tends to draw your attention to the center. Nothing too drastic, just a wee (technical term) bit darker. |

| | | Do you mean something like this? I might have gone a bit over the top here to show the effect. It's just the burn tool with a soft largish brush, and set to about 10% just paint around the print as you need (you need to change to highlights for the sky) I find it easier to drag the box around the photo larger to get to the sides |

| | You might try this action: Gothic Glow, by Feivel. Add a mask to it to paint in darkened corners. Go to: http://www.atncentral.com/download.htm |
