I don't know what is happing but I used to get good pics from my camera. Now the pics have jagged edges. I paint my pics so any help would would be great.
when I download they are at the highest level 22x16 at 72lpi I take it up to 200 and make the the pictures no bigger that 9x12 -10x13.
How do I get rid of the stair stepping. camera is panasonic DMC-LC20
w-bal is auto
quality high
sensitvity is auto
pic size is 1600
w bal is aut

Well it appears that the maximum pixels you are using are about 1131 x 1584 (~1600.). The minimum resolution for a decent picture, in my opinion would be a 150 pixels/inch. That would be about and 8 x 10 photo at 150 pixels per inch. Any print larger than that would tend to show the pixels. Upscaling or increasing the resolution of the photo does not add more information to the photo.

So print out a 4 x 6 at a resolution of 250 pixels/inch. If that looks ok I would suggest that you buy a new camera with better resolution. If that still looks "blocky" there may be some other problem.

I wish I could buy a new camera, but unfortunatly other things things need buying.
The funny thing is some pics turn out just fine while others do not

If your images are jpeg format, images with a lot of high contrast edges will come out "blocky." That is an artifact of the jpeg encoding scheme.

I wish I could change all of that but like I said before some pictures turn out great while some I have to work at harder

can i suggest that if you have an image hosting account that you can upload a pic so we can have a look. If you can upload an image exactly as it was straight from the camera (an image that you have this problem with) same size , everything as is. And post the link.
