| | | Nikon D50 SLR price reduction i was in Staples the other day looking at my normal drooling items, computers, printers and digital cameras and noticed they were showing the Nikon D50 SLR's now. and, the price had dropped $100 U.S. bringing it to $699 retail.
now, i've been watching the price market on slr's for a while now and i believe we're in a bit of a price war between canon and nikon. but whatever the reason for it, this is starting to seem like a pretty good buy and just thought i'd pass this on to everyone.
here's the link to the staples.com web site for that camera: http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/st...P1600:CL161824

| | | Staples details worthy of note:
* $699 includes DX lens (18-55mm)
* There's a $50 rebate from Nikon
Good info to know. Now, if only D200 prices would drop the same way! (They will someday.)
FWIW the route I took recently (for our church):
* Purchased D50 w/same lens via eBay from a reputable seller (I shop eBay all the time, so I'm OK with that)
* Former demo camera refurbished by Nikon (I was OK with that, too)
* I paid ~ $150 less than the current Staples price less rebate, plus the pkg. I got included a 1GB compact flash card and non-Nikon, but adequate case.
It's nice to have options. Your mileage will vary. |

| | | Re: Nikon D50 SLR price reduction I got a D50 a few months back. I got the deal that came with two different lenses.
It's great!!
If you get the Nikon capture software you can take pictures straight into PhotoshopCS2 with the import WIA wizard.
The way memory chips are getting, you can put a 1 giga byte storage chip into it and take pictures until the cows come home. |
