Great baby feet, great idea, got to wait till November before i can have a practice at that one ( another grandchild on the way )
and i also like the way all the colours go together in the apple shot (lips, tshirt, and apple)

Re: Photographed TODAY (or Processed today)

Many thanks for the encouragement folks. Glad you liked the images.

The apple shot was actually supposed to show his teeth. He (like most five-year-olds) was missing the two front teeth on the top AND the bottom. So we went to the grocery store for an apple to show the missing teeth via "biting the apple."
Needless to say, at five, he didn't cooperate very well. But I landed a few, and I thought this one was precious.

For anyone interested, it was shot at F/4, 50mm, 1/250 sec. at ISO 100. I used a single soft box at camera right for side lighting at a little less than 90°, and used a black board at camera left to block out extraneous light.

Here is one of the other ones that shows the teeth.

Re: Photographed TODAY (or Processed today)

I do like the baby feet shot the best, good idea and well executed..
Heres another view of the rocky coast for Veralisa, a scary bird, couple of photogenic kids, street dog and a flower i found overlooking the sea from the clifftop..
A week tomorrow i hope to be back in the Algarve to get some shots of “Noite Branca" - "white night" in the city of Loule where literally everything and everyone must be dressed in white. There is a link here..
Incidently if anyone is visiting there from Portugal or Spain, it would be great to meet up on the night..
regards,
Gary..

I have been trying to get the shot of adult feet and baby feet but it has turned out to be dificult. She is very much a wiggle warm and am going to have to try when she is a sleep. Mom and baby share the same feet so it is a must for me to get the shot. When I do I will post them. For the hands I am trying to get a picture of her grabing the ring finger but leave just part or all of the wedding band showing. Again it all comes down to Baby and her mood..LOL

Something like that. but having the baby grasping the ring finger. I will keep trying. At least it is digital and not film so I can take all the shots I want.

Re: Photographed TODAY (or Processed today)

Many thanks.

The customer(s) (mom and daughter) were of mixed feelings. There were a few specific color shots they wanted, and there were some they could have gone either way. The remainder they chose black and white. More to the point, the ones that were made black and white were the ones they asked to be converted as such.
I shoot in color and convert. Shooting directly in black and white, I find, limits your options. The Photoshop Black and White function gives you the ability to mimic filters, but they only work if you start with a color image.

I agree with you, though. There are some images that are just meant to be black and white, and most of those classic style shots are of that type.

I think your right a new thread with baby shots would be nice. Not only would we all get to show off our Babies and grandchildren but could get some good ideas on artistic shots.

Great idea. Helps to have something specific like that. I know that I often find myself scrounging for a new and inventive idea.

Re: Photographed TODAY (or Processed today)

So I bit the bullet so to speak. DH went off on a 10 day sailing trip and took my P&S so I was left with the SLR. It's been a bit of a comedy of errors but I did manage to;

recharge the battery...go me! lol
figure out how to get the files off the card and onto the computer.
and
change the lens - woot!

I managed to get these three while walking around in the heather this morning looking for cows. I drove by the cows on the way into the park but they had moved on by the time I was there with the camera. I accidentally set it to rapid fire (can't remember the technical term) and then the battery died. I've only made some simple levels and curves adjustments.

Re: Photographed TODAY (or Processed today)

Nasturtium, I love your humor/humour - "in search of cows.jpg" So, is that heather? I'm from Arizona, and heather is something out of "Wuthering Heights" that sounds lovely but isn't growing in our desert.

Changed the lens -- good for you!! Not always an easy thing to figure out and always worries me when I'm in the middle of the process.

Charged the battery -- great! (except then your battery died too soon - ummm, maybe a bit more of a charge, or did DH not mention that it was time for a new battery and that's why he left it behind? )

Looking forward to seeing the cows!

Re: Photographed TODAY (or Processed today)

CJ-Yes, I didn't have the battery fully seated so it wasn't really charged. Today I set myself the task of figuring out how to use the tripod. [I also took along the remote thingy but was too exhausted from carting around the tripod and telephoto]

Gary I didn't comment on your beach pictures, my apologies. The light in the one of the children's backs is just AMAZINGLY beautiful. Did you do any pp?

On these I set a black point which made for a surprising amount of improvement.

Wow, I've been gone for a short while, had a project or two to finish, and there's so much new stuff to see!

Yea, thanks Gary. Hey, I see me in the water
Miss Nasturtium, great shooting, gal. Oh, that grey spotted horse is so lovely. I've never had much luck with horses, they'd rather eat & eat & eat rather than pose for me (really fantastic dof).
Alex...I LOVE your captures!!!!!! More about that later, or in,

Here's a gift I found on my porch, after the woodpeckers were feeding, which found itself standing upright in a teeny, tiny worm hole on a log...

Cheers.
