| | | Theme for January competition... is "BLUE". Per Janet Petty (the winner of the November competition), "This can encompass anything from a blue mood to the blue of the ocean".
The competition (and entry thread) will not open until January 1st (or 2nd -- to allow any celebrating entrants to become clear-headed ), but I thought that some folks might like to know the theme in case they holiday near something or someone "blue". |

| | | Re: Theme for January competition... Hmmm, I wonder if those planning to enter photos would like to submit multiple images rather than only one? Still using the single theme, "blue", we could shoot a set of images which could be 1) all the same subject, shot in different ways - emphasizing the theme in the same or different ways; 2) different subjects - possibly even different aspects of the theme, such as one image of "the color blue", another image depicting "a blue mood", etc.
Would seeing a set of several photos by each entrant make it easier or more difficult to choose your favorites, or would it make any difference -- if one member has one photo you really like a lot and two that just seem "okay", and another member has 3 photos that you like and feel work together very well even though none of them is as strong as that one other photo -- will you have trouble voting?
Since the competition doesn't start for a few weeks, we have time to play with some options for the new year -- whatcha think? |

| | | Re: Theme for January competition... I think a single image works best for me, but I'm more than happy to go with multi shots if that's what suits others.
Finding something blue will be the challenge for me, no chance of it being a shot of the sky anyway. We did get a brief glimpse of azure today, but it was soon swallowed up by the usual December gloom. Now grey I got lots of. |

| | | Re: Theme for January competition... I think I would prefer a single shot but if we had multiple I think they should be of different subjects, not a series. It would add to the variety that can be chosen from.
If I was faced with a series of shots with not too much difference in them I think I would get bored, depending on the subject of course. |

Alice, sorry for the confusion -- if you look at the main Photography Forum page, it's easier to see the proper thread[listed as Photography Competition] , but here's a link so everyone can easily find it http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/pho...an-2008-a.html
