Photographers we aspire to?? I feel as an aspiring photographer that this is central to improving our work. Ideas make great photographs and for ideas we need inspiration. The forum would be a great place to post information for all to learn more about the non technical side of photography. Excuse me if this is already the case and I have missed it on the forum, if so could someone point me there.

Re: Photographers we aspire to?? shaunx, we have some threads linking to photographers that inspire us, but it's always good to have more. You say that you are an aspiring photographer. What do you want to do in your photography? I have always been an enthusiast, and never aspired to be a pro, but I am an audience for the pros and all the other people who create fine photography (it doesn't take a pro to create an imaginative/beautiful/thoughtful image). As for professional photographers whose work inspires me, the list is long, but here is a link to one of my current favorites Frans Lanting's LIFE: Journey thru Time (requires Flash)

Re: Photographers we aspire to?? Just a few thoughts: Looking to others for inspiration is fine, but be careful, it can easily lead to just copying and duplicating. True inspiration comes from inside you. CJ's comment "it doesn't take a pro to create an imaginative/beautiful/thoughtful image" is right on. The definition of "stunning work" is in the eyes of the beholder. If you create it and think it is stunning, then why would you care what the rest of the world thinks? So do your own thing, make yourself happy and enjoy life!

Re: Photographers we aspire to?? I like the photography of several photographers but have enjoyed the simplicity and beauty of Sam Abell's work a lot. Search out his name on the net. There are many references to him and his photography. Janet
