Photographing eyes Was wondering if any one had ideas on getting the ye color right in the picture without using photo shop. As an example if I take a picture of some one with very light blue eyes they come out gray. Was wondering if this could be from the red eye reduction, flash, or both. Any ideas will be most helpful. Will be taking hundreds of pictures these next for days out doors. So any advice will be appreciated.

Re: Photographing eyes I think eye color comes out most accurately when the subject is facing a large soft light source like a picture window (North light best). You should get beautiful detail and color inder such conditions assumong a good lens and focus on the closest eye.

Re: Photographing eyes It will be tough for sure....especially being outdoors ... Since the light will definitely change (with the large volume you said you had of hundreds of pics) throughout they day which will also affect whatever color adjustments you make. Off the top of my head shooting a few frames of a gray card throughout the day will help. Be sure the shoot the gray card with the same settings as you do the model (same distance, flash ratio, AP, shutter speed, ISO, etc.). Take one frame that looks like the closest representation to real life and bring it in ACR. Sample 5-10 points on the eyes and note the color numbers.
