| December Photo Competition [EDIT by Frank Lopes] We've extended the closing date to December 31st. Entries are now being accepted for December's competition -- make a post in this thread and attach your entry. Be sure to make it as large as possible within the forum's restriction to images less than 100k - read the link below for help in sizing your image if you are new to the forum - Click for Info on how to size and attach images to your posts The theme for this month's competition has been chosen by the 1st Place WINNER of our November 2008 competition -- CathyH CathyH has chosen the theme "The Holidays" and suggests "that could be the lights indoor or outside, still life of presents, kids unwrapping presents, a santa ringing a bell, or a holiday musical program." Deadline for submitting your image(s): Monday December 31th, 2008 at Midnight EST. Each member may submit only one entry for this competition. You may change your entry (by submitting another entry in its place) up until the deadline. The goal of these friendly competitions is to inspire members to grab our camera and actually use it. New photos are our goal, but we also accept recently photographed/recently processed images that fit the topic also. Honor system applies. We'd love to hear any shooting info you have (shutter speed, ISO, f-stop) as well as any regular photographic post-processing -- cropping, levels, saturation, dodge/burn, etc. Note: This is NOT the forum for photo art filters or art programs - let's keep the photos looking like photos. Entries may be deleted if they do not meet criteria (nudity, photo art, etc.), but we do not encourage arguing about entries -- the voters will decide which images they prefer. What does the winner get? The winner gets to choose the next assignment PLUS gets all the nice accolades that come from being chosen "Winner". (For the newbies - No, a Brinks truck does not arrive with a large check...) Post your photo submissions in this thread, and we'll have a separate thread for discussion of this assignment and your comments regarding any of the entries that strike your fancy. All RetouchPro members may take part in the competition and all members may vote, whether they have submitted an entry or not. Last edited by Frank Lopes; 12-27-2008 at 07:50 AM. |

| I took this picture last year the night of December 23rd, 2007. It is a very small part of a holiday house in our neighborhood. Each year the owner makes more characters. Last year he had enough to share with three of his neighbors, though his house still had the most. He includes various Disney and cartoon characters as can be seen in this picture. The water spot looking things you see near Peter and Tink are bubbles from a bubble machine located in the castle. The picture was taken at 7:23 p.m. with the following: Camera: Canon 20D No Flash Hand Held (No Tri or Mono Pod) Lens: Canon 50mm F/1.8 (AKA Nifty Fifty) Speed: 1/50s F Stop: F/2 ISO: 400 bias: 0.0 Metering Mode: Pattern White Balance: AWB = Auto White Balance, not Average White Band :-) Location: Neighborhood Last edited by RAG; 12-19-2008 at 09:22 AM. | Re: December Photo Competition Hi all, This is my first post for quite a while, I have been really busy with so many things. I'm not really into the Christmas thing, so I got a shot of some bottlebrush nuts instead, hope this is ok? F3.2 1/10 sec manual |
