Long Exposure

I love, love, love long exposures. I am excited to start getting some ND filters to really play around with things. Speaking of long exposure, here's a 7 minute exposure that I took fairly recently.

2 stop GND filter to hold back city lights and a locking shutter cable. Shot in full manual mode at f/22

Hello, I really like your night shot. It is interesting that there is a shadow of a tree in the water. That is a great location, what city is that?

I have been interested in this kind of photography for a while too, and I took some photos on a rainy night last week. They are nothing to get excited about, but it was fun, here is an example. What I really want to do is have a nice place picked out and go there the next time it is raining.

It's Portland, OR. I am not really sure where that tree came from, but on the other side of the river there is a big park that runs along the waterfront. I think the shadow from the tree adds a little bit of character.

if you like long exposures....get one of those holgas with the pinhole lens, they are relatively cheap. i've seen some great stuff come out of them, and they require very little photoshop work, so the look is always more organic looking.

I actually have a modified body cap for my camera for pinhole. I have yet to experiment with it but that is part of the agenda.
