Palms, he is SO handsome!! He looks quite satisfied with his new choice of home (you thought you chose him, but you really know better), and will thoroughly approve of all the attention that he will get from Peter S. and other photo art folks!

Thanks Roob and CJ for your comments. I don't know much about photography, but keep learning. Most of the technical talk here goes right over my head, but once in a while I glean something that makes sense to me.

Very good catch on your part to notice this - the dewdrops are almost a full necklace encircling the leaf margins

Actually CJ it wasn't particularly astute on my part, most of the leaves looked like this.

Shari -- You NOTICED the leaves and the dewdrops - I'll bet a lot of folks walked by without noticing. One of the neat things about photography is that it helps us notice more of what's going on around us. Oh, and I totally agree with you about Palms new kitten, Peeps!

One of the things I've been noticing lately is the young rabbit living in our greenbelt park - this morning I was able to change to a telephoto lense and get a better look --

Your choice of viewing angle shows off that horn quite well - quite impressive looking insect. I'm glad they are not as large as a rhino...

Roob great shots out of interest did you take a full length one as well ? ( thinks how much the dress must of cost and would want a memento of all of it )


C.J. great ones of the rabbit ( they come second to cats for me ) it was while i was watching a wildlife programme that they pointed out how hard it was to photograph a wild rabbit

Where are you located? Eastern U.S.?
When I first saw this rabbit, I thought (hoped) it was a jackrabbit, but that was weeks ago and it would be bigger by now if it were a jack. Also I did photograph its tail - which looks like the desert cottontail. I did a bit of wildlife rehab and took in some cottontail babies (eyes closed for first several weeks) and a couple of jackrabbit babies (born with eyes open and about the size of the palm of a woman's hand). Some of the cottontails would stamp their feet at me when I tried to pick them up for their feeding, but the jacks were sweet and ALWAYS ready to feed from their bottle. Those ears really grow about the 4th week, as I recall, and are beautiful in the sunlight as they are translucent and glow red from the capillaries/veins.

Palms, I grew up reading the story of Marshmallow the rabbit by Clare Turlay Newberry (The moral: A bunny's a delightful habit, no home's complete without a rabbit. ) who convinced Oliver the cat that bunnies were nice for cuddling rather than eating. I have been in love with bunnies ever since. I don't think there is anything as soft as a bunny - even one of my cats. Photographing just requires a telephoto lens - they will stop and stay still, hoping you won't see them, and can be photographed if you don't get close. Do you have any bunnies?

Palms: I didn't get the whole dress from top to bottom, since I mostly do head shots, not many full length shots.

CJ: OMG the ears on that rabbit! I have wild rabbits living in the back yard, they often venture up to the house and hide under the house bridge, but they have no ears like that!

Gary: That bug is awesome, it reminds me of Starship Troopers.

Oh yes, it's from 1977, but it still flies missions daily.

CJ-I live in Western Pennsylvania (not to be confused with Eastern PA which is a whole different entity, according to our state government). Our rabbits here are chubby with much smaller ears. I don't have any pictures, thanks to our dog, who will not let a rabbit set foot on our property.

No not any more but have had a few,including one that thought she was a cat and would come in and sit on your lap.
