indeed, james, nice capture. whenever i try to get bees to pose for me they're always just...well, busy as bees and harder to get into focus than a two year old. so, kudos on that one!

Shame that you cant pick up on how funny this was !

it took him about a hour of looking this way, then that trying to work out how to get the seed

then getting the balance just right using the top wire to stop him going all the way over

we usually get one a year who work out how to get the seed, will have to keep a eye out to see if he remembers tomorrow or the next day

And yes i think it was a man, i know i wont have to explain why to the ladies

I thoroughly enjoy this picture, even though I thoroughly dislike spiders.

Palms, you stayed with it all that time?! Good for you - I am impressed with animals abilities to figure things out. You captured his success.

RooB - cool ! Love the comparison between the old model equipment and the modern. Good images, but you omitted those cute firemen!

Palms
They are FAST; doves are easier - they just like to walk around looking for seeds... Cactus wrens are easier also - they are cheeky and like to hang around to scold you for coming near them.

You should have heard her - sounded even worse than her look. My dog and I were on the sidewalk, so we weren't intruding into her nesting area, but wrens are very territorial and protective - they scold my cats very loudly if they go out in the back yard. But they don't divebomb like the mockingbirds. I've ducked a few times to avoid a mocker's "attack". There used to be a mocker who would dive at a neighbor's cat every time the cat went outside. The cat ignored the bird, and it was fun to watch - from a distance.

I'm trying to get closer to a baby bunny that is living in the park. He's very aware and runs at the hint of danger, thank goodness, but I'm hoping to get a bit closer with my telephoto. I did manage to get his ears backlit - they glow in the sun.
