Gary, that's a girl, not a bug, ha! Actually, what did you use for the water effect? Flood plug-in? The next closest thing is AKVIS NatureArt.

Very cool, Palms! Now get him to face the reading material - so he looks like he's reading...

What a good influence Gary is on all of us -- when we see an insect, we run for the camera instead of the swatter.

I'll second that, CJ. I've spent a lot of time snapping bugs and even, ahem, spiders this summer.

Love the bug shots. Here are a few more of the beach the next day, when we let the kids play on the beach. It started out foggy but turned in too a nice day.

As the years go by, you will love these shots even more, I'm betting. I love the expressions in #2 and #4, but I especially love #1 - it is "every child" looking at the great unknown. Now put your camera down in a safe spot, and go play with your kids - that memory will be great for them and you.

Our zoo brought snow and ice for the animals and kid visitors to celebrate "Winter in July" as a way to deal with the 100+ temps. I spent most of my time watching the tiger play in her pool with some frozen meat and then sniffing the snow.
