January 2010 Photo Competition: Entries

• January 1, 2010 to January 28 6:00pm EST

Voting Period:

• January 28, 2010 to January 31 6:00pm EST

Discussion Period:

• January 1, 2010 to January 31 6:00pm EST

Voting Tabulation:

• Vote for the 3 entries you like the best by considering how well it fits with the chosen theme and how well the technical details were handled.

• Votes are weighted to give greater weight to First Place votes than to Second and greater weight to Second than to Third place votes:
  • First Place 4 points
  • Second Place 2 points
  • Third Place 1 point

• In case of a tie, first place will be giving to the person with the most "first place" votes

• If there is still a tie, first place will be giving to the person with the most "second place" votes

• If there is still a tie, first place will be giving to the person with the most "third place" votes

• If there is still a tie, first place will be giving to the person that first posted his/her entry

• The winner will be notified via retouchpro.com's private messaging and will choose a subject for the following month.

Shot this today. Light was the focus of this shot, if not necessarily the theme, so I thought it would be acceptable for this month's competition.

It was shot with a single spotlight over head, ISO 400, F/4, 1/30th of a second. I shot it at 70 mm with a 70-200 F/2.8 fixed.

Gasp, choke, choke, I actually got my camera out and took a few pictures the other day. A bunch of us went on a photographer's tour in a cave. Talk about painting with light. Here you go.

I'm changing my entry, I took this last week with the challenge in mind.
I used a 50mm 2.8 lens that I have to manually focus because it wont to auto on my camera. This turned out to be harder that I thought - so I have been practicing. I did some post processing, but just with the color.
