Re: February 2010 Photo Competition: Votes Philbach, one of our most visible forum members, not wanting to miss voting even still he does not have the ability to go online, sent me this note a couple of days ago: Hey Frank, I am unable to post my votes on the Feb photo contest and I am getting ready to leave town for a few weeks and I'll be offline. At any rate I'll check the vote thread later today but just in case, here are my votes.Philbach, we look forward to your return.

Re: February 2010 Photo Competition: Votes My votes: 1 - Southbay - (softlanding) The action is very apparent with the bird in the act of landing. Good timing! Exposure, composition, choice of DOF all work well to isolate the subject 2 - CathyH - (Pickles) action is implied and the subject is caught in the act - the expression if not the actual catch. Good technically also. 3 - Philbach - Gives me some sense of implied movement, like he's getting ready to land or just took off. Love that eye and the feather detail. Frank's seagull and Janet's buzzard (I think they are distinctive, not ugly) are both so well done, they must be mentioned also.

Re: February 2010 Photo Competition: Votes I agree Cathy, catching animals in action is difficult, especially birds or cats in the house where the light is bad. Good job everyone. And congratulations to all of us for attempting action shots. Philbach Frank Lopes Southbay Janet
