| Hair/fashion setup - gray bg, help needed! Hi guys, This is my first post here, so hi to all of u ! I need some advice from studio photographers. Usually I do fashion shots, but now, I got a huge hair stylist coming to our studio. Also, at the same photo-shoot I got a fashion designer with dresses etc. Originally this photo-shoot was for the designer but he managed to get a really cool hair stylist, now it is awkward, as the photos are gonna be used in a big Hair - Stylist magazine, but the photo-shoot is actually for the fashion designer... I am looking for a nice fashion light/setup/idea, that is gonna also really accent the hair... I am gonna use grey colorama background. I got fully equipped studio, loads of strobes and modifiers. Just dont know how to do both. Nice, simple fashion AND hair/beauty light setup My best idea at the moment is beauty dish with grid 1-2 feet above the model (45 degrees on face), some soft fill light to reduce harsh shadows, and a hair light (snoot from above or behind the model). But I tried it and it is not really doing the trick... Please help if any of u got a good advice what to do. |

| Re: Hair/fashion setup - gray bg, help needed! Consider them separately. If the hair is sleek and shiny, how would you light it compared to full and wavy? Use grids, strip lights, bare bulbs, whatever it takes to bring out the shape and texture of the hair and then light the models face with a BD, Ring or Octa. Whatever you choose you'll have to adjust depending on the color, sheen, and texture of each hair style. |
