How to achieve sharpness

Hey guys, quick question for you I was checking out Zoot's Post production and they have some real quality work and I was wondering how they got their portraits so sharp and clear.

It's the first two images in portrait.
Also if anyone has an idea of a similar or exact lighting setup that would be awesome.

Hi Instantclassic:

There are various ways to get sharpness. Using HP filter, unsharp mask, Adobe Camera Raw, but those works contain a lot more than just sharpening. They may also contain D & B etc. Some of them also look like they have HDR process. The sharpening is applied locally and not global... You can also, split frequencies, then clipping a curves or Brightness and Contrast to the high frequency layer...

Taking a second look at those works, I can see they look the same as Dave Hill style.
