How do you obtain such incredible Black and White?

How does one obtain such amazing black and white? First I thought this was some kind of Dragan effect but it doesn't seem to be. I just love this image could someone enlighten me as to what might have been done in PP?

Well you just need to expose it like that. Its the flash that does the Contrast. Just add a touch of contrast in PS and youre there.

IMO it is quite likely that very little done pp. Mostly in camera with good technique, correct lighting and exposure based on desired flesh tone density. My guess softlight from above possibly used rear flash sync to record movement blur while models moved head during exposure. Then possibly a little D&B to control density and contrast locally

you could accomplish this either way, lighting and slight movement to get blur or photo editing to get good contrast and blur.

my attached is from a color photo done by debbie traumundanus. the original was ok, a nice picture but not nearly this much contrast. i desaturated it and added in the contrast with my editor.
