No, actually, the lake scenic only needs minor straightening (droops to the left) but no foreground cropping. The river mirrors the lake perfectly!

PS: Does Einstein get royalties?

Here's a take on the new Zen snow shot using Topaz Clean and Simplify.

While keeping to rule-of-thirds cropping I allowed Einstein to look away from the center.

Another crop after quickly removing the foliage and applying Topaz Clean. Ideally we'd go for a sharper definition between the snow and sky, but I didn't take the time getting the rubber stamp job perfect on the lo-res.

Oh WOW I love the second one! I haven't tried Topaz Clean. I hope it will work with XP, I'll download the trial if they have one.
Einstein is well taken care of for his appearances.
Now that's just weird. I really would have expected a suggestion of cropping down almost to Einstein and some off of both sides too. You are right, the water is lower on the left. I wonder if I did that with the camera or if it's some kind of illusion? I'll have to take a look the next time we're up there.

Yes, Topaz plug-ins work with XP and trials are available (plus discounts).

Here's the lake with PostworkShop and a Flypaper texture (combined via layer blending).

I hear in parts of CO there are gravity anomalies and some lakes are uneven. Ha! You probably held the camera a bit sideways. I keep doing this too ;-).

I took this yesterday on Wadmalaw Island SC. I used a HDR technique and HDR EFex Pro.

Phil - very nice. Love the sky.

Crazyfly - thanks. Yep, those are all mine. (I'm that old.) The carousel shot was a real bitch to print back in the pre-digital days. Lots and lots of dodging and burning. Ditto the Scrambler. The scanned versions took some postwork in PS but all in all I have to say the digital darkroom is a lot easier than the wet one.

You can't count on the far shore of a lake to be a reliable horizontal unless you're shooting right down at water level. But I might twist that one a little anyway just to remove any doubt. And I wouldn't crop it, either - unless you want it to be a picture of Einstein.

Plugs - I looked at an old print of the scrambler pic; it's cropped tighter than the one I posted and you're right - I like it better.
