Shot 42 years ago, processed today

I bought a Nikon film scanner on eBay and finally got it up and running yesterday. The idea is to wade through my old slides and B&W negs and bring 'em into the 21st century. This one was shot at the Minnesota State Fair in '71 or maybe '72 and it's one of my favorites.

It took a beating downsizing it for upload, unfortunately.

Nasturtium - I really like your collage. Looks like a lot of those images could stand on their own. Very nice.

dkcoats, you must come from a family of photographers. The slides I pull out of a box and scan don't look anything like that. Nice shot!

I shot this yesterday and developed today. I tried to come up with THE most irritating, "OMG where should my eye go???" crop ever. How'd I do?

btw plugsnpixels, your advice about which direction Einstein was looking was really helpful. ty.

plugsnpixels - thanks! I wanted something outrageously cheerful - it's been soooo gray here

crazyfly1 - it all depends on where you decide to point your camera

Re: Photographed TODAY (or Processed today) con't

Crazyfly - I'm all for breaking the rules but I'm not sure I'd have had the stones to go quite that far. Still, it's a very nice shot.

That said, would you PLEASE stop sending us your weather? We got about 8 inches yesterday and it's really quite enough, thankyouverymuch. I mean, it's bloody April, for crying out loud, and it's starting to get more than a little old.

I'm starting to get the hang of my new (to me) film scanner. This is another golden oldie from the halcyon days of the early 70s.

One more bit of nostalgia before I go to bed. Another scan from my State Fair series.

dc, that Scrambler shot is great in many ways! The timing, panning and focus especially. It looks like an ad waiting to happen. A little cropping from the right and bottom would make it even stronger.

Cryazyfly, that IS some extreme cropping! If you could white out where the trees and weed are, you too have an ad in the making. Make it Zen (just Einstein, sky and snow). And restore just a bit on the right ;-).

As for your weather, it doesn't bother me to see. Sunny and nice here every day. Getting a bit too warm actually. Guess winter and spring are over...

ROFL! dkcoats, it's not my fault. I was actually fooled by a week of 60 degree weather. Now its in the 30's every day and we have a foot of snow again. My dog loves it though so it's OK. In fact, I took a shot from our walk today. Just got home from work but I'll post it in an hour or so. Still in camera so not sure how it looks.
So are those shots you took? Or did your dad or someone shoot them? Do the negs look like that or are you doing a bunch of post? The one named dad is just soooo perfect, someday I'll shoot like that.

Hi plugsnpixels, you must have been writing while I was. Cool, I did my best to crop so that there was exactly as much snow as sky. I took out some distractions in the snow. I'll put up the original in a bit.

Here is the one I shot today. I only got one shot because I forgot to take the memory card out of the computer and the internal memory was full. I pulled up the crop tool in LR and quickly realized I'm clueless on this one. I think the foreground needs to be cropped significantly but I'm not sure so this is the original. The other is the original of the crazy crop.
