Elements 4 and Vista

Does anyone know if Adobe in it's infinite wisdom is about to or in the process of making and update so that Elements 4 can be used with Vista. I have read everything on their site and nowhere can I find anything about an update that is forth coming. Right now I am running it on Vista with it set up as it would be on XP SP2. Is there anyone on the forum running Elements 4 on Vista and if so how do you have it configured? J.B.

Sorry, I don't know the answer. Since no one else has replied yet may I suggest posting your question at:
* www.photoshopelementsuser.com/ -or-
* The PS Elements forum at www.Adobe.com

Perhaps someone from one of those venues will be able to help get you going.

Re: Elements 4 and Vista

I believe there will not be an update to Elements 4 to run on Vista as the current version is Elements 5. Adobe tends to push aside old versions...It would be hell for them to support everything.

Re: Elements 4 and Vista

Since I posted this thread I have found out a way to run PE4 on Vista. Within Vista there is a small utility called "Program Compatibility Wizard" which will guide you through a procedure to run the program as it was designed to run. The only thing it doesn't do for PE4 is get the update to work properly. There is a work-around for this, going to the website and getting the update from there. Other than that all works properly, however, I don't think "Hidden Elements Tools" will work which is a great shame, but I can live with that. J.B.

The updates never work quite right, I've seen lots of complaints about that. It is usually recommended to turn that *feature* off. Furthermore, there never are any updates, so do not bother with it.

Re: Elements 4 and Vista

My sentiments exactly, will not use the update facility. Thanks for the advise. J.B.
