Worth upgrading to PE 5 or 6?

Hello -

I'm approaching this problem from both angles as I have Photoshop CS and PE 3. I am a complete novice at retouching - I can use the tools (barely) and am hoping to learn a lot from this website and the forums.

HOWEVER, my problem is red eye. My daughters and husband have big blue-eyed girls and a husband and I spend a lot of time getting red eye out of my images from my Canon Powershot S5 IS.

Is it worth upgrading (for not that much I guess relative to my time) to PE 6 for the automatic red-eye removal tool? Does it affect the photos in other detrimental ways? I'm thinking at this point the $ is worth my time, but is the red eye removal in PE 6 only or in an earlier version that might be less $.

The other question is batch actions. I use Noise Ninja to reduce noise which I can batch through Photoshop CS plug in. But, you can't do a batch other than the presets in PE, right?

Thank you for your opinions -

Re: Worth upgrading to PE 5 or 6?

Hi:

I don't know what version of CS you have. I am a elements user and I really like PSE 6.0. The advantage of six over five is the new selection tool, (for me at least). The red eye tool works really well and has no effect on the rest of the photo. There are other tools that been improved but never used them yet. Elements still does not have the Mask ability, but I installed graffi's mask and works just fine. There are other plug-ins for using a mask, so someone might have a another opinion about that.

Here is Graffi'f site

I can't help you on the batch question. Sorry.
