problem with brushes

Hi,

I am an "challenged" user of PhotoShop Elements II. Picked up and am working through Hidden Power by R. Lynch and have bought the Mend tool

All was working great until today when I found that all my standard "default" brushes would not work.

When attempting to use clone stamp tool in Mend, the brush has no visible effect. This applies to all the round soft and hard brushes, all sizes.

However, if I switch to something else, like square or splatter, they work fine.

Any thoughts on what I have done to cause this?

TIA,

Bruce

Bruce,

When strange things happen in Elements try deleting the prefs file:

To do that close down Elements then click on the start up icon and quickly hold down the Control, Alt and Shift keys (If you are a Mac user Apple, Alt and Shift). Continue to hold down all three keys until you get a screen asking if you want to delete Settings ... just say Yes.

I haven't come across the problem you are having but try dleting the prefs and see if it works.

Thanks Wendy!

Your advice solved the problem. Thank you very much, it was frustrating being limited to the "odd ball" brushes.

This is a great forum, both in the quality and the speed of help offered.

Thank you again.

Bruce,

Glad it worked ... anytime anything odd happens whilst you are using Elements try deleting the prefs first
